Project 7 - Benefits of Blogging

Blogs are an easy way to share brief ideas with your teacher and classmates. In this project, you are going to share what you know about validating websites as credible.

By credible, I mean you trust the website to provide accurate and factual information. This is a critical part of any research project because there are many websites that contain peoples' opinions, inaccurate information, and sometimes outright lies.

Review the list of bogus websites on the DigLit7 wiki.  Review one or more of them and post a comment with three reasons how you identified the website as not credible.  The reasons must be unique and not already used by another student.  Looks for clues ABOUT the website and not the actual text or images.

  4. The website http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/ is fake. 1) The site has no "about us" page telling us about the author or the sources that were used.

    2) The site is a .net. Sites that are .net, .com, or .org can be reliable but are not your best bet. Sites that are .mil, .gov, or.edu are usually reliable.

  11. i am doing this site http://descy.50megs.com/mankato/mankato.html. You can tell this website is fake because of these three reasons it says that the site has been hijacked, it says that the website is 100 percent recycled electrons, and it says please recycle when finished using the website but it is impossible.
